ABOUT US

Byron Bay Basketball began when the High School was built in 1987. With the use of the 1 court multi purpose hall, competition began in February 1988 with a total of 35 teams: men, women and high school inclusive.

Not long after, a junior representative program and teams were formed, with road trips to Sydney, Coffs Harbour and Grafton, all with very good results.

Following lots of negotiation and fundraising, we moved to the 2 court Cavanbah Centre when it was built in September 2012, and is our current home.

From these humble beginnings, numbers have steadily increased over the years, we rode the wild ride that covid was, and as of 2024 we find ourselves with a thriving community of close to 450 juniors and 150 seniors.

We’re fortunate to have an amazing representative program, and everything from satellite Aussie Hoops programs, to healthy juniors and seniors competitions, and many development opportunities for players, coaches and referees alike.
